I am sorry for the confusion. It turns out the person that was selling this engine and transmission had the wrong information. The engine is a V8 and transmission is a manual 4spd. They came of a 1973 350sl.

I was not happy when he told me all of this after all the research I have been doing an posters here have been contributing to.
