So after a good drive i open my hood while the engine is running and notice my oil cooler is stone cold! Im used to it being about as hot as the radiator. it is in the 50's here in texas. my oil pressure is perfect and the oil cooler has always been hot. I have heard there is some type of thermostat for the oil cooler? what temp should it open at? I have an IR thermometer and the side of my filter housing is about 80 celcius and the cooler is the same as ambient temp.
I dont get it! Im going out of town for Thanksgiving and dont want my engine oil getting so hot that it looses its ability to lubricate well. Any help would be great!
