Would never happen. In 90s Ford and others where plagued by bad headlights. They would turn yellow, like smokers teeth, and fog over. This made it a hazard to drive with these. The issue would not come up for years though, by then it was too late. Millions of cars have this issue now. In the case of the Lincoln Mark VIII, the chrome would also break down on the inside. Fogged lens, no chrome, no light output!

After campaigns to the NTSB, nothing happened. This is a clear safety issue and a pretty widespread one at that. We have all seen those stupid headlight restoration kits. They exist for a reason.
