Don't do that. When the relay clicks, the glow plugs go off. You want the glow plugs to be on when you engage the starter. They will stay on when the starter is engaged if they have not clicked off prior to the starter engaging. So you should wait longer than the glow plug light but not so long as for the relay to turn off.
