Here's an idea... can the crank housing cover be removed with the front crank seal in place, then new sealant put on the sealing surfaces of the cover, bolt it back in place (the crank seal acts as the centering tool), then after the sealant cures, pull and replace the seal if necessary? Isn't the Mercedes sealant the same thing as black RTV?
