Maybe they gave the title to a 'title loan' place; can't afford to pay back the loan...so get rid of the car for more cash.
Or the family, grandpa or brother moved away/died & left the car behind.
Some of the ads will say;..."No Title, so don't ask"....
I mean, why can't a person "ask"?
