well, the 240 has lighter wheels stock, less interior weight, manual climate control, and sunroof control, so usually about 400 or so pounds lighter than the US 300D... and it's got shorter diff gears... to get it decent acceleration that results in MASSIVE noise at highway speeds due to engine RPM...

yup, I would not be surprised if they made a SPARTAN version with lighter interior, and climate control, with little to no power somewhere in the world, but to CHOOSE to build one out of a US optioned wagon seems a bad decision.
