(Hopefully you got that I was joking about the "greater fool" thing.)

It's easy to become the "greater fool". In fact, to avoid it, we sometimes do the work of the fool to ensure that he doesn't screw up. But, then we find ourselves way behind the curve doing things that are somewhat menial and failing to do the important things.

It is inevitable that the fool will screw up, despite careful instruction. Are we still the "greater fool" because of it? Somehow, I doubt it because it is inevitable. At a certain point, one must determine if it is more valuable to cut one's losses and find a replacement. I'm currently in that dilemma with my designer of 20 years. He's on the downhill slide and the errors are numerous and costly. Unfortunately, the opportunity cost of a replacement is also very costly, so...........the dilemma again.
