Don't forget the little things like parking on level ground so that the small amount of fuel in the tank can cover the intake point. Had this happen to me once (actually, the kids did it), and pumped so much air into the system that I had to loosen an injector line before cranking and hand-pumping would start the engine. Seemed to prime much better with just one injector line slightly loosened.
