As much as we humans seem to prize religious relics, IMO, it is good that there are no original autographs. People would treat them as magical devices rather than consider the wisdom they contain.

Kerry's comments about J, E, D, and P as the authors is a theory. People seeking a humanistic understanding of the authorship of the Bible looked at the first 5 books--commonly attributed to Moses, and saw several different names of God in use. they theorized that one author know God only as Jehovah, and another, only as Elohim. These are in Hebrew--which is the main language of the OT. Then along came a Redactor (editor) who put the writings of the two together. Finally, some documents regarding the priesthood were added to give credibility to that function.
Realize, however, that all this is theory, only.
One of the problems is that it assumes that the various names of God used, are simply due to ignorance of other names. It denies the possibility that an author may choose the name of God that best fits the context of the story. Thus, it would be expected that when writing about the Covenant-keeping God--who chose the descendants of Israel and made them "His people"--that the author would most naturally use that name, Jehovah. At the same time, when the author writes about God as All-Powerful, and Self-Existing, the use of El, or Elohim would be proper and expected.
