I prefer a money clip but they do have drawbacks. If you carry other items such as a pocket knife, car keys, etc. they tend to get tangled up. If you don't get a full sized one, money tends to get ragged and torn.

Now, tell me about this "wallet too thick" problem. Sounds novel. I wonder what THAT feels like?
