I plan on changing the factory shift knob on the 300e to the newer SLK type knobs. Now I know i can just break off the old one by taking the rubber off and breaking off the top round plate. That leaves the stem pretty much like any other shifter stem. However it's thinner than most other cars. My question is, would the SLK shifter knobs fit ? if not what are the options ? I just dont want to change the whole stem by opening up the console etc.
