I spent a month there back in the 90's doing a film about the Eastern Cherokee tribe and one of their elders (Walker Calhoun). This was before the casino and all the delevopment. Used to be a nice sleepy town on 441.
I thougght the smaller river towns (SoCo and others) that were nearby were really the old South.

Lovely scenery around here. Friendly folks too. Lovely daughter#3 and her family is joining us so we'll prolly be hiking and so forth to beat the band. I am in Sylva at the library (a most impressive faciility in the old County government building built on the tallest mini mountain in town) using the computer.
So I'll be a bit scarce around here for a week.
