So, originally I did hook the lines up. I was so thrilled the car started and held idle in drive, the first place I went was to this MB expert mechanic in silver spring, md to get the carbs synced and adjusted. About 5 days later I got the car back and noticed he had actually disconnected them? It ran well, and his shop is highly reputable so I kind of figured he did this purposefully. Maybe, based on what you say, I'll re-wire them.
I don't understand how the carbs could properly be tuned with the choke disconnected. Seems like it would have to run rich when cold to start and then always run rich. On a related note, I took my 250S/280S with webers to the Weber carb place for tuning. They installed electronic ignition, rejetted something, set the timing, and now the car is wonderful. I don't think a Mercedes shop is the place to take a car with Weber carbs. It's just not common for them.
