Not specific to Waco by any means. Back in the 70s and early 80s, a group called the 'Love Israel Family,' started by a guy who called himself Love Israel attracted a lot of hippie youngsters with a mix of religion and communal living. They went to the Rainbow gatherings which is where I ran into them, in the flesh that is, I'd heard of them for years before.

There was something appealing and repellent about them at the same time. They eventually fell apart owing to the excesses of the top guys. Other hippie communes had problems with sex and teenaged girls as well.
