The real high point in ballot box stuffing was in NYC. Tammany Hall, which was a Democratic outfit, showed everyone else how to
really stuff ballot boxes.
It also lad to a spate of laws across the country to shut down such stuffings. If you are wondering why liquor stores are closed on election day it is to keep someone from buying you a bottle of booze in order to get your vote.
Yup, that's old school vote rigging!
By the way.... The Tammany's existed as a political machine from 1686 to 1938, but the real ballot stuffing took place under Boss Tweed. Boss Tweed tore through New York politics from 1852 to 1877 when he was finally arrested for stealing $45,000,000 from the taxpayers.
That's about Eight billion Dollars in 2013 money!
