Dead Sea Scrolls in boston

just went to see this exhibit at the Boston science museum, fascinating stuff if anyone is within reach of Boston and would like to see it, the exhibits ends in october. The visuals are pretty impressive, and they are rotating different scrolls at different times, so I may go see it again later on and see a whole new set.

I couldn't believe what happened to these scrolls in the 50s, where guys were playing with them in full sunlight, smoking, and piecing them together with scotch tape!
A lot of todays preservation attempts are about trying to undo preservation attempts from the 50s

there is a professor quoted as saying that the scrolls suffered more in the last 50 years being handled by supposed professionals, than in the previous 2000 years of sitting in a clay jar in a cave.

anyway, worth the admission if anyone is interested in that stuff
