Since your 240D is a 83, it has an EGR. behind the passenger side kick panel (to the right of their feet) is a small black box. this is only to control the EGR function.

Funola in this thread was able to jump across a couple of the solder connections to make a Tach work in his 240D.

DIY tach for 240D w EGR- easy!

There is a cable that runs from this box, over to the drivers side, through the firewall and down to the Crank for the revolutions pick up.

There is a Switch Over valve on the Pass side inner fender to control the EGR function. a black/purple stripe wire runs to this from the box. this can be eliminated.

The functions of the small engine shocks as far as I have read, is to help stop the shake when the engine is shut down, to take the stress off the engine mounts.
You could cut off the tab mount from the donor car, or cut a piece of angle iron, and have a Welder stick it on.

there were three HP ratings on the OM616...

1) Not much power
2) Even less power
3) Not nearly enough power!! 240D w/auto

Anyone that thinks a 240D is slow drives too fast.
