You have ruined your transmission. The transmission is not designed to hold the vehicle weight. The PARKING BRAKE is designed for this purpose.

When I apply the parking brake, I always apply it when I am in Neurtral (manual or automatic transmission). That way when I release the foot brake, I will know whether the parking brake will hold the vehicle and not the transmission.
