TNBob, where did you get a quote for $200 for glass & seal? I had a quote for $400 for just the rear seal.

Do I need to provide a seal or will they just use something generic?
I can't speak to TNBob's experience but we have had a windshield replaced in both a modern Benz and a Cayenne. Neither used "seals" as such, but the cost of seals is in direct relation to the age (ie: rarity) of a brand and model and also the manufacturer. As has been quoted time and time again here, it's best to avoid the aftermarket seals as most people have had to redo them with the more costly factory seals so incurred further costs than they would have by choosing the OEM seal to begin with. Also, on these two modern cars we were offered either aftermarket glass at around $250 if I recall or full factory glass with markings, which we chose, and for the Benz I think it was about $400 and maybe $500-700 for the Cayenne. My guess would be TNBob used the pattern glass rather than factory at this price. Do not expect that for a vintage MB.
