The best thing I did on mine to resolve the air cleaner mounts was a very thorough valve adjustment. In fact, two adjustments 100-200 mi. apart, really smoothed things out. Also, install the little heat shields and they last longer.

I would be a little concerned about the possibility of another problem. From what I've heard, a turbo failure is more likely from contaminated or a lack of oil. There would have to be a considerable amount of dust, for extended time, for that to cause a turbo failure.
