It is advisable to turn the metal shield to help break loose the boot from the spark plug. Also do not pull on the plug wire to remove - the wire may separate from the metal shield. I use a spark plug boot remover tool from snap-on. I also coated my new spark plugs with dieletric grease to prevent the boot from sticking to the plug.
