I would definately replace the right side. no telling how long it was run with split open boot w/o lubercant. so most likely damage done to the joint.

If the Left looks good leave it alone. If there are small cracks, that might be age cracks of the rubber drying out. It might run you a couple more years that way. If there are deep cracks, then I would definately change it out or reboot it.

VSTECH our Diesel Moderator on this Forum, reboots axles and has a supply of them on hand.

I have come across good Axles in the yards all the time. The one`s under our 240 are new one`s I found at different times.

there were three HP ratings on the OM616...

1) Not much power
2) Even less power

Anyone that thinks a 240D is slow drives too fast.
