The 5.7 diesels were really pretty good overall except for the quality thingie. Comfortable and full sized cars would get 30 mpg highway. MY uncle bought an early one new and at 12K had a broken crank. (WTF?)

Too bad too because GM knew how to build a quality diesel, they just chose not to.
