The target is a 97 C280. Currently it has a driver side IR sensor where the mechanical key lock should be. I'd like to remove this and install a mechanical lock cylinder. Did older or Canadian cars come with a driver side lock? Did other bodies use these door handles?

The passenger side has a mechanical lock but the chrome stripe would be on the wrong side if I used that lock,also not sure if the overall shape is the same though. If the shape is the same, I'd be OK with painting the chrome stripe.

I'm not worried about losing the anti theft alarm feature, this is going to be Moms car and she does not want the alarm to accidentally start beeping and flashing anyway.
