I wouldn't do it just to save fuel either. But I would do it to go faster.

More sensible, yes. However, the rush from running even a comparatively weak 72 hp engine pushing 600 lbs of combined vehicle and rider is quite pleasant. If I decide to spend some money, I could be on a ZX-10R with about the same weight but making around 200 hp and doing 186 mph on top end.
