Portsmouth is a great little port city with an active commercial waterfront with lots of bars, restaurants and museums (check ahead for museum hours, some close for the winter).
I went to the Maine HOG Rally out in Bethel Maine in August 1996. On the way home we rode over to Mt. Washington. The sign in the Ranger shack across the road listed conditions at the summit: Wind 75 MPH; Temp: 32 deg f. Road Closed! So, instead I rode off to Dixville Notch & up into Canada, had lunch in Magog (sp?), rode around for a while & came back in North Troy VT around 6:00pm

Great day of riding on my 1991 Sportster.
