There are quite a few shop in Asia that will drop a Nissan or Toyota motor into a Mercedes, along with the rear end to handle the power. Japan has fairly strict motor vehicle laws concerning the condition of the car, you don't see a lot of "junkers" on the road. The result is a lot of cars winding up in recyclers and then shipped to other countries for scrap or recycling. Thailand has a tuner industry that takes those parts and create some interesting combinations for enthusiasts there.
