Yes ive gotten tired of the smoke on startup in my CD, if I absolutely loved the car a good inline to swap in--ide have to use the 165 hp mercruiser chevy 250 to start with, I also think the jag differential would be the easiest way to a limited slip differetial using the boltup homokinetic axles and a corvette style rear cover that bolts to the car, the four top bolts that mount to the rear subframe is the hard part.
Its a very cool looking little euro car but -i dont love it that much.
