that'd work if you have an always hot 12v socket installed in the car... but it would not work on a stock benz, because the electrical system would suck the battery dry almost instantly...
you could use a clamp on 12v socket connected between the body of the car, and the glow plug relay lead (it's hot all the time) or the starter lead if that's easier to reach... the large wire on the alternator lead would work also...
