I've solved that fear in the past with a harness and fixed rope. I did hire a roofer recently to put some roofing tar around the chimney of my 3 story rental property with a 12/12 pitch. I thought I was being a wimp but the roofers legs were shaking when he moved from the ladder to the roof. Made me feel better.
