hmm, the first thing you need to do is check chain stretch.

PeachPartsWiki: M116/117 Timing Chain Replacement

is your start up a metal sound or simply an un-tuned engine?.

If the cams were replaced , are you sure the chain cogs were put back right ( timing) ?

not to be discouraging but If you have little car experience this is not a job to cut your teeth on (chain R/R)
