Stalin loved Packards. When the war was over and Packard came out with new cars Stalin had the USSR buy all the tooling and set-up an assembly line there to keep building pre-war cars. Stalin died in 1953 but the design work on the mid-50's Russian cars was a going thing then and if Stalin said Packards were the greatest cars in the world then who was going to argue with him?
