Contact lost with Air Algerie plane carrying 116 people from Burkina Faso | Reuters

Seriously, though, what's going on? This is the third plane down this year and second one missing?
They'll probably find this one unlike MH370 which will likely never be found. This is another tragedy to be sure but not unusual given the law of averages. MH17 is irellevent in terms of airline safety except in as much as it's now demonstratably stupid to overfly a war zone for economic gain and hopefully airlines will have fewer accountants making decisions. Not much hope of that though I'm afraid.

The only one that really concerns me is the loss of MH370 which until it's found (if ever) leaves open the possability of some serious flaw with the 777. A staple of many long haul fleets.
