W124 Overhead console removal

Hi Peachers,

First time poster, long time lurker. Your DIY guides have been invaluable. Apologies if I've posted in the wrong forum.

I have a W124 (1988 230E) I'm trying to remove the overhead plastic console for (is this called a headliner?). I've removed the screws underneath the sun visors, the rear-view mirror and the dome light unit (see pics). The whole panel now feels quite loose - it slides a little back and forth but there must still be some secret clips holding the thing in.

All the guides I've been able to find seem to be for models with a sunroof and the final steps don't seem applicable to me.

I feel like I will snap clips if I keep trying to jiggle it out. Anybody know what else needs to be done?
