It's a CVT. They had no manuals left in stock in the '14s and the pipeline of 15s apparently hasn't filled yet. They had one fully optioned 15 but it was way over my cheapskate comfort zone.
We took turns on driving it home and I actually like the trans just fine. The Element's auto hunts around like crazy on the Prescott-Jerome hill climb road. I tried out the paddle shifters...pretty nifty but in full auto mode it did just fine.
Seats down I can probably get a goat and a half in it but with seats OUT I can get three in the Element. Wife doesn't even like to hear me joke about it.
