I dont have any data to compare but I would think with more air moving across the heater core the temperature would resultant temperature would drop as you are cooling the core a bit and there is less time for that air to warm up.

Another thought, and I don't know how closely it will be related, is that maybe your recirculation pods are not opening. I know on those models there is no recirculation switch like in the later models however I do believe--under certain conditions--the recirc pods open allowing for in-car air to be used for heating.
