Problem with Becker 1480

So yesterday I removed the radio on my 1990 420sel to replace the bulb behind the climate control unit. I made the stupid decision not to disconnect the battery before I did this. I was working the different connectors off with a small screwdriver when I accidentally shorted the positive and negative terminals on the cigarette lighter. This caused the radio to immediately turn off. I pushed the on button on the radio and it turned right back on. I checked everything and it all seemed to be normal. I then continued with what I was doing. I never unplugged any of the wires going to the radio. When I was finished I went for a drive but when I turned the engine off and pulled the key out the radio stayed on. So now I have to manually turn the radio off when I shut the car off and manually turn it on when I turn the car on. Why would it be doing this? Do you think shorting it had anything to do with it? Or could it be some sort of wire I may have pulled too hard on the back of the radio?
