The W140 is really nice. Not as sporty or nimble at the 124, but quiet & comfy. And significantly larger in every dimension... make sure you are ok with the size. Otherwise, the 140 is just as DIY-able as the 124. A bit more complex due to the extra features, but still mostly discrete systems you can figure out and repair.
