It could be a bad switch, but if the battery has been disconnected/dis-charged the seat control module may need to be version coded. If this is the case several of the functions will work backwards. I don't know of any way to do this without the proper equipment. Try the memory buttons to see if you can get the backrest moving in the direction you want. You can also try running the seat motors to the limit of their travel and holding the switch in that position for a few seconds. Sorry I can't give you anything definite.
