I watched a 1/2 hour of the rebuild one, he seemed to be figuring it out as he went. Lousy camera, lighting, heavy long island (I think) regional english. The balance wouldn't play on my computer at the time. I see it on the shelf every once in a while, but do not revisit it. If you're committed to a rebuild (because it think it would be cool to do one). Look into friends or community college or adult ed courses that would give you direct access to tools and skills involved w/ teardown & reassembly. Smarmy as he comes off, a Kent Bergsma rebuild video would be neat.

I would attempt a lawn mower or similar engine rebuild first, you'll see a bit of the elephant, at least.

How to keep your vw Alive for the complete idiot, while written for a completely different car, is a good general reference to getting things apart and back together. An engine swap is not a really hard job to do for a W123.
