Some good things to check on a new diesel would be:
Valve adjustment
While they have the valve cover off, check the timing chain stretch.
Replace all fluids and filters, brake, coolant, fuel filters, air filter. PS fluid i know you have issues going on there.
One very good thing to check that is often overlooked is make sure the oil cooler lines aren't deteriorated and leaking. Those can fail causing catastrophic loss of engine oil.
Once you get these teething problems sorted out, the car will run and run and run.
