There are multiple threads on setting IP timing. It'll come down to choosing how many degrees advance you want and using the drip test to dial it in. You'll move the IP towards the engine for advance.

How many degrees? Dunno.

I also suppose you could advance it without doing the drip test by moving the IP and seeing how it runs. If you go too far you could back it off until you're happy. I've read about some guys doing it this way, kind of like you might when "guessing" timing with a distributor on a gas engine - advance 'til it pings and then back off a little.

I've read it also depends on where on the RPM curve you want more power. More advance will improve power earlier on, while retarding will help the higher revs, if I've got that right. The info's here in the forums, to be found with a little digging.
