'99 ML430.Noisy Front Diff'. 191000 mls

I'm having 25 to 55 mph diff' noise from the front....quiet on trailing throttle.
70 and up, no noise. ( 3.46 to 1.)

Already replaced the loud rear diff' so now I can hear the front !

Read a lot about bearing failure on these and most common is pinion carrier bearing. However, if so, won't the crown wheel and pinion match have worn too and putting in new bearing a waste of time?

I don't 'do' diff's. I get used or new when needed, but at $2500.00 new I bought an eBay diff' for $170.00.

So I am wondering if anyone had good results with just bearings?
