In Cali, when I had my 78 salvaged and I bought it back...well they just let me keep it....

The only inspection that was required was a brake and light safety inspection. The issue was there could be no age cracks and any of the lenses. Man it was a PITA to find a w123 with out age cracked tail lights...I finally borrowed a friends tail light and then returned it after I passed. But get this, they found the rotors worn past recommended specs....and if I wanted to do the repair myself, I would have have to repay for the test/certificate and everything....kinda got you coming and going...

I just took the money, was four figures....It paid me back for the cost of the car, all repairs and test/inspection. All I had was a dented fender and bent door ding strip...Pulled the fender out, 12$ ding strip from pnp and all was good...

Moved here, got a new title and no more "salvage" on the title

Insurance companies think they are up there with god, they have the higher advantage and almost any fight will be ending in taking them to small claims court...
