Check the wheel part numbers/offsets to confirm they are all the same offset. Some of the factory wheels look identical but have different offsets.

About the ball joint notches being oriented correctly, I agree that it could be aligned well with the notches incorrect from a static perspective; however, once on the road the oblong shape might cause the joint to have a tendency to follow/seek the direction that it is already favoring due to its clock position.
