That one's a treat, should have put his money in the engine and sunroof instead of wheels and paint. "needs air filter and valve adjust so it runs rough"? I'd bet even money on a bad head rather than adjustment of a hydraulic lifter. Is this like the "A/C works great, just needs a charge" claim?
I see them on craigslist and ebay frequently, although they aren't usually in very good condition and don't seem to bring much money (some of them really rough). At this point unless they're really well cared for they're either rusty and beat up (rust belt), or the interior and paint are roasted (south), ... and in both cases need lots of suspension and deferred maintenance work, if they have a minor fender-bender or don't start they are usually hauled to the boneyard.
No idea on numbers remaining, although I have seen a few in the local junkyards over the past several years.
