Installing a brake controller on a GL is easy. Plug and play parts from Mercedes. I mounted my Tekonsha Prodigy under the dash (above my right knee). Mine has a under dash airbag so I went below that. Works great.
I had two 3/4 ton Suburbans before the GL, and you seriously would not belive how good the GL tows. I get 17mpg towing, seriously. Airstream weighs 6200.
