Check your pre-filter to make sure it has the black o-ring at the top. Pre-filling the new spin on filter with diesel will speed up the
priming process. If any lines are loose or leaking, the system will never prime completely. Otherwise, keep cranking. It takes
a long time to pump the filters and fiter housing full again.
Give the starter a break after 15-20 sec. A battery charger might keep you out of trouble too. Sometimes the battery will die before the engine lites off. Keep cranking. It will start sooner or later.

Having a full tank won't make any difference.
