Greg,
When I removed my chrome it was a simple hammer and wood block job. Angle the edge of the wood block under the chrome strip and gently tap up with a hammer or mallet. Continue tapping and move the wood back and forth along the chrome strip until the strip is completely detached along its full length. This will limit the amount of bending in the chrome strip.
